Fundraising
Fundraising is necessary in order
to maintain a quality band program at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School. The
band operates on a budget that exceeds what the school and county are able to
provide for us. To continue to perform and compete at a high level, and keep
band fees down, we need to raise as much money as possible. We will have several
fundraisers throughout the year. All money is returned to the students in the
form of a quality band program that they can be proud of. To this end, all students
and their families are asked to participate in fundraising.
Money earned through fundraising is also applied to your personal band account. This account is used to offset the cost of band fees and can also be applied toward any band-program related expenses. Other approved uses include: band trips, private lessons, instrument purchases and repairs, sheet music, equipment purchase and repair, the list goes on. Contact the Band Director for approval of an expense before you buy and the Treasurer to get reimbursed from your account after the purchase (a receipt is required).
The Band Boosters support several fundraising programs that continue throughout the entire year, including summer vacation:
- Friends of the Band are local organizations and businesses that have come forward to support the band programs at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School. Our friends make generous donations of funds, supplies, and services to the program, or allow the Band Boosters to place donation jars at their location. Visit the Friends of the Band page for more information or if you know someone that is interested in helping the program. Make sure that you patronize these businesses to show how much you appreciate their support.
- Donation Matching is offered to employees by many companies and businesses. For a list of companies that provide this benefit, click here. This list only contains the businesses that we know offer donation matching - check with your individual employer for exact details.
- Eat at the Wake Forest CiCi's Pizza on the second Wednesday of each month between 4:00PM and closing! Great pizza, salad, and other items that help the band program!
- Make your food purchases, using
Grocery Cards. Link your Food Lion MVP rewards card to the "WFR Band Boosters" to help the band program!
- Work at the
RBC Center to fund your band account. The RBC Center is an indoor venue with events taking place during the colder months, typically basketball and ice hockey. Students are not allowed to work events at the RBC Center, but friends and family members over the age of 18 (21 to serve alcohol) can work on their behalf. You must be ALE trained to work some events at the RBC Center. ALE training sessions appear on the band calendar (you must sign up for these sessions in advance). We will try to set up carpools between Wake
Forest and RBC to make attending events and training easier.
- Work at the
Walnut Creek Amphitheatre to fund your band account. The Walnut Creek Amphitheatre (formerly known as the Alltel Pavillion) is an outdoor venue with events taking place during the warmer months (Spring, Summer, and Fall). Students, friends, and family members over the age of 18 can work. You must be TIPS trained and NC ABC trained to work events at the Walnut Creek Amphitheatre. The Walnut Creek coordinator will send out an email advising when and where TIPS training sessions are being offered and these training sessions will also appear on the band calendar. For more information about TIPS training, click here. We will try to set up carpools from Wake Forest to make attending events and training easier.
The Band Boosters operate numerous fundraising programs at various times during the year. These include:
- Product sales (gifts, candy, fruit, etc.)
- Refreshment sales at concerts (snacks and drinks)
- Wake Forest Three-On-Three Hoops
- Tag Day (Click here for more information.)
- The Band on the Run 5K Road Race ( Click here for more information.)
The Band Boosters also solicit and accept donations from individuals and the community. If you would like to make a donation to support the band programs at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School, or know of an organization that might, please contact Sondra Phillips.
