Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money” – in other words, scrip is gift certificates from national and local retailers. They’re the same gift certificates that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including JCPenney, The Gap, Shell, Pizza Hut, Red Lobster, Chili’s and many, many others. Several retailers also offer the card “re-load” option. This gives you almost instant credit without you having to wait for a card delivery. This program is different and in addition to the grocery gift card program we currently and will continue to operate.
You’re probably asking yourself how these stores help us raise money. It’s simple -- scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to our organization at a discount. Member families like yours buy the certificates for full face value, they redeem them for full face value, and our school keeps the difference as revenue. And scrip is exciting, because everybody wins:
The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for our child’s band account without spending a single additional penny. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at the stores that participate in the scrip program! And scrip can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline, gifts and even dining out. Don’t forget that family and friends from across the nation can participate in this program as well and have the proceeds go directly in to your band student’s account.
The only administrative cost for you is a $1 charge for shipping per family per order. This charge comes right out of the profit from that order so it is no real out of pocket expense.

You will need to set up an account and link it to our program. Follow the instructions on the attached flyer for signing up. Make sure you fill in the band student’s name so we’ll know how to properly credit each transaction.

The monthly order deadline is usually around the 5th of each month.
To speed up processing of your order you should consider signing up for the Presto Pay feature as well. Presto-Pay is explained in the GL Scrip Presto-Pay Flyer. This feature eliminates the time and trouble of writing a check every time you want to place an order and figuring out how to get it delivered or mailed to the program coordinator. If you are set up on PrestoPay then your payment is automatic. However, if you are set up on check payment then you will need to drop a check in the band room booster box or arrange to get the payment to the program coordinator directly.
