Marching Band parents have the opportunity to purchase prepaid grocery store gift cards and have a percentage of the purchase price (either 5 or 6%) go to their child’s band account. You then use the cards like cash at the check-out. To really take advantage of this fundraiser, you need to purchase the cards regularly each month, then the small amounts that go into your band account really add up.
For example, if you buy $300 worth of prepaid grocery cards from Food Lion monthly for a year, you will get $180 in your band account ($15 per month returned for each $300 you purchase for 12 months) – money you would have spent anyway! We think this is a great way to help you raise money for your band account since everyone needs groceries. Some people are getting cards for other family members, like grandparents and older siblings away at college.
You can purchase cards for Kroger, Lowe's Foods, Food Lion and Kohl's:
Kroger - 5% . With a Kroger card, you can add money to your card anytime you go to the store, either at the Customer Service Desk or at the check-out counter. Kroger sends the band a check when the whole band has $5000 worth of money on the cards, so your band account will be credited when we get that check, about every 3 or 4 months. You never have to get a new card.
Food Lion - 5% . Cards are available in $100 and $50 denominations. Your account will be credited within about a week of purchasing the cards. When you use the card, the grocery store receipt will tell you how much you have left on the card and that information is also on the magnetic strip on the back of the card. Once the card is used up, discard it. They are good for 24 months.
You can also link your Food Lion MVP rewards card to the "WFR Band Boosters" at the Food Lion website (https://www.foodlion.com/IntheCommunity/ShopandShare/secure/relinkmvp.asp) - an easy way to help the band program!Lowe's Foods - 6%. Lowe's cards are for $50 and $100. Your account will be credited within about a week of purchasing the cards. They also tell you on the receipt how much is left on the card. Not reloadable.
Kohl's - 5%. These cards are available in lots of denominations. I usually keep $50 and $100. These cards can be used to pay your Kohl's credit card bill in the store. Not reloadable.
Harris Teeter - 5%. Cards are available in $100 and $50 increments. Not reloadable.
Remember the cards are like cash! Don’t lose them.
In person: You pay by cash or check (made out to "Band Boosters of WF-R, Inc.") and get your cards at the same time. I am at the school every day.
By Mail: if you prefer to do this by mail, just send Jane a check made out to "Band Boosters of WF-R, Inc." and tell her which store you want. Address is Band Boosters of WF-R, Inc., P.O. Box 56, Wake Forest, NC 27588. She will mail you the card after receiving the check.
Deposit of Checks: The checks will usually be deposited the Monday following payment.
