Business Alliance- A group of business representatives who meet monthly with the principals and School-to-Career liaisons at WFR High School and Middle School, and Heritage Middle School. Meetings are currently held on the first Tuesday of each month at noon at the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce. The Alliance supports the schools in all career-related activities, as well as goals related to academic achievement. Alliance members include both large and small businesses such as Tyco-Mallinckrodt, Sprint, CCB, Manpower, Sign-a-Rama, and The Wake Weekly.
Business Partners- Businesses willing to be called on by the schools as needs arise. For example, showcasing student artwork in their place of business, providing hospitality refreshments for a school event like the Success, Inc., providing materials for class projects as a donation or at a discount.
Tutor/Mentor Program- There is
always a need for a caring adult to reach out a hand to our students.
Classroom Speaker- Students
love to hear from adults other than their teachers about how their learning
will relate to the world of work. You
could come for a day or for one class.
Most teachers have five classes per day, but we could videotape a lesson
to share.
Teacher/Student
Industry Tours- Could be a field trip by students, or visit by one or
more teachers to learn how their curriculum supports business practices in the
real world.
Job Shadowing- Allows students to get a glimpse of real world careers
by spending a half or full day in the workplace with a host
Job Shadowing will be
conducted on the scheduled “Groundhog Job Shadow” day and on all workdays

Career Fairs- Either a short demo, booth, or lecture at a career
event. A Career Fair activity is
planned for each semester.
Testing Proctors- Individuals are needed for ½ days to assist
instructors in giving tests such as end-of-course test and VoCATS test (exams
for Career & Tech educational courses)
