Q: Who is my Counselor?
A: Students are assigned a counselor according to their grade level and/or last name:

Q: What do I need to do to meet with my counselor?
A: Come to the Student Services office and complete an Appointment Request Form.

Q: When is the best time for me to see my counselor?
A: To avoid missing valuable class time, it is best to speak to your counselor either before school, during your lunch, or after school. Counselors, however, are available from 7:30am – 3:30 pm every school day for situations that require immediate attention.

Q: When and how do I change my class schedule?
A: During the first five (5) days of each semester is the only time that class schedules can be changed. See your counselor during this time for essential changes only.

Q: How can I learn more about college and scholarship information?
A: By using the numerous online services that are available as well as making an appointment with your counselor.

Q: How do I get information concerning the PSAT, SAT, and ACT?
A: The online websites for the SAT (www.collegeboard.com) and ACT (www.ACT.org) are extremely useful. You can also make an appointment to meet with your counselor for additional information.

Q:Where can I learn more about careers?
A: In the Career Development Center located in the Student Services office and by contacting our Career Development Coordinator, Mr. Rob Whitley.

Q: Where can I obtain a Work Permit?
A: You can pick up a work permit from Student Services, and will then need to follow specific instructions to complete the form.


Q: How do I sign up for Driver’s Education?
A: You can pick up a form in the main office (from Jordan Driving School), fill it out and return it to the main office.

Q: What are the academic requirements necessary to obtain and/or keep my drivers license?
A: You must be enrolled in school and consistently pass a minimum of three out of four classes (in the 4 x 4 Block schedule) each semester. See the following website for more details: www.wcpss.net

Q: How many credits do I need to graduate?
A: This depends slightly on your chosen “Course of Study” and the year that you entered the 9th grade. See the following website for more details: www.wcpss.net

Q: Can I graduate early?
A: This depends on several variables and should be discussed individually with your parents/guardian and counselor. See the following website for more details: www.wcpss.net

Q: Can I be exempt from Final Exams?
A: Yes, if you are a senior and meet the following guidelines for each class:
“A” average and no more than 3 excused absences for the semester
“B” average and no more than 2 excused absences for the semester
“C” average and no more than 1 excused absence for the semester
