Students develop detailed and integrated communications projects using electronic concepts, theory, using state-of-the-art technology equipment. Practices in research, testing, and project development are studied as students use a variety of telecommunication devices. Projects may include computer graphics, desktop publishing, animation, multimedia presentations, web pages, and student portfolios as well as concentrated courses of study determined by the student and teacher. This course and TSA technical and leadership activities develop skills essential for students interested in pursuing technical or engineering careers in communication related fields. It is also an excellent supplement for those students involved with the Cougar Chronicle or the Forester, our school yearbook.
Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Technology
In Communication Systems, we use a variety of projects to learn about communication technology. A large part of the class is devoted to using computers and programs such as Powerpoint, PhotoShop, and the internet. We also worked with the Lego TechKnow project in which we used our problem solving skills to make various devices. We also learned about electronic theory as well as work on circut boards to make different electronic devices. We designed our own webpages as well as the Technology Education Website.
